Job description
The Department of Pediatrics at Dartmouth Health Children’s is seeking a full time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Neonatologists. We are looking for pediatric providers to join our neonatal hospitalist team at St. Joseph’s Hospital in their Level I Nursery.
Dartmouth Health Children’s provides an extended system of care with primary, specialty, and advanced tertiary pediatric services, including an inpatient pediatric unit with PICU, level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and level III NICU at its flagship Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (CHaD). Dartmouth Health Children’s also operates a comprehensive ambulatory specialty center at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester, the largest city in the state, and 10 pediatric primary care medical homes across the region. Dartmouth Health Children’s is committed to addressing racism and other forms of oppression that prevent all children and adolescents from living their healthiest, happiest lives.
The Maternal Child Health Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua, NH, provides labor and delivery services as well as Level I nursery care for over 500 families annually, and is designated as a Baby Friendly hospital. Their spacious Unit allows personalized and state-of-the-art obstetric, post-partum, and well-baby care.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH, is a unique Level II nursery with an innovative philosophy of parent participatory care of intermediate care infants from birth. The care model includes rooming in capacity for families throughout the hospital stay, and is based on successful models of parent care in Sweden.
The role includes hospital-based coverage 24/7, primarily at St. Joseph’s Hospital, but also may include support of APP staff at Catholic Medical Center for delivery attendance and overflow from the well-baby nursery and NICU. The pediatric APP will be responsible for the primary care of a caseload of well-babies, attend high-risk deliveries, serve as team leader in neonatal resuscitations and team leader and “first responder” for critically ill neonatal transports in the surrounding areas. Successful candidates will have experience with pediatrics, in either an inpatient or outpatient setting, and ideally will have experience attending high-risk deliveries and providing initial stabilization in the immediate postnatal period. Opportunities for training to expand skill set to stabilization of acutely ill infants for transport will be provided by the Dartmouth Health neonatal team.
Dartmouth Health Children’s is the pediatric service of Dartmouth Health, an integrated academic healthcare delivery system for northern New England anchored by Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, New Hampshire. DHMC is recognized by US News & World Report as the Best Hospital in NH and is home to over 50 graduate medical education programs, NHs only Level 1 Trauma Center and air ambulance service, the Dartmouth Cancer Center (a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center), and CHaD.
Providers at Dartmouth Health enjoy the rare opportunity to combine high-level academic medicine with a serene and stress-free living environment. Lebanon is part of the Upper Connecticut River Valley, home to Dartmouth College and its abundant cultural and enrichment activities. Greater Manchester is often ranked among the best small cities in the United States for quality of life. With destinations like Boston, New York, Montreal, the seacoast and ski country within short driving distance, this is an ideal place to thrive in work, play, and life.
