Job description
Location: This position reports to the Iowa DOT District 6 office in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Work Hours: 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, hours may vary; some travel (primarily for training or meetings)
Travel: This position may require some overnight travel.

- Administers utility, office, and maintenance garage invoices. Contacts vendors by phone or in writing to ensure that all accounts are paid in full and that credits from the vendor are applied.
- Supports District Budget Officer in data gathering, analysis, and reporting for budgeting and financial planning including cost trends, work projections, historical analysis, and material usage and costs.
- Provides Administrative and Human Resource support for functions such as hiring, onboarding, workforce development, performance reviews, system access requests, office supplies and equipment, scheduling, travel requests/arrangements, correspondence, inventories, office vehicle pool, payroll, time, and expenses.
- Receives and screening visitors. Maintains excellent knowledge of the organization to enhance ability to provide customer satisfaction.
- Answers telephone promptly and in a courteous manner, making referrals to the appropriate personnel.
- Assists with Technical Training Class Support with reserving conference rooms, arranging for instructors and assisting with other aspects of class support.
- Creates and maintains databases to be used for analysis, tracking, and monitoring a variety of business functions.
- Serves as the first contact with the public for inquiries.
- Operates computer programs such as WorkDay, Asset Works, Microsoft Office applications, and internally developed software programs.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and three (3) years of work experience in highway design, maintenance, construction or materials;
