POSITION: Administrative Assistant to The Building Official
REPORTS TO: Building Official
HOURS: 8:00 to 4:30 pm
MAJOR FUNCTIONS: The Administrative Assistant to The Building Official must have the
physical and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities, and duties
of the job illustrated. The job description herein provides the range of duties to be
performed for this position. It is not intended to reflect all duties that are required within
this position.
JOB DESRIPTION: The Administrative Assistant to The Building Official will assist with
various required administrative tasks as directed by the Building Official. Knowledge of
online permitting system functions. Excellent communication, Microsoft Office, and
follow-up skills are required for this role.
DUTIES:
1.) Assist with and verify all permit applications are submitted with accuracy and
applicable documentation for plans review prior to issuance.
2.) Manage and maintain all contractor licenses, registration, and insurance forms
in active/current status.
3.) First Point of contact for permit holders and license holders for scheduling
requisite inspections.
4.) Communicate effectively with contractors and citizens regarding permit status,
inspection status and related jurisdiction subjects which may arise.
5.) Assists Building Official in daily operations to include: answering phones,
responding to voicemails and reviewing email messages. Must be able to
research applicable codes and records effectively.
6.) Prepare permit documents for various state agencies such as but not limited
to DEO, Floodplain and environmental agencies.
7.) Willing to obtain licensure/certifications to assist with Building Department
functions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
