Accounting Manager
Job description
Carlisle Fluid Technologies has an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager. The accounting manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial records. The duties include coordinating the month-end calendar and assignments, reviewing manual journal entries and account reconciliations, and partnering with the Accounts Payable and Receivable Managers to identify efficiencies and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the accounting staff and ensure financials data related to payroll, accounts payable, credit and collections, cash application are timely and accurate
- Manage the financial resources by ensuring internal controls are enforced and generally accepted accounting principles are followed, including monitoring of SOX controls
- Oversee the maintenance of accounting records and preparation of month end closing/journals and consolidation of US companies results, including managing the month-end checklist, variance analysis, and consolidation
- Review and approve freight charges, and manage the relationship with CFT’s freight auditing company
- Review and approve weekly payment run, and vendor/customer maintenance activities
- Ensure compliance with company policies and with relevant federal and state, financial, taxation, employment, and safety laws
- Analyze the process flow for payroll entries, accounts payable, credit and collections, and cash application and propose process improvement opportunities to improve timing and accuracy of financial reporting
- Supervise the preparation of tax returns such as US property, sales and use taxes for US based locations
- Coordinate internal and external audits to comply with internal review procedures
- Provide coaching and training as well as career development opportunities for direct reports
- Responsible for hiring, performance appraisals and salary reviews, counseling discipline, and other managerial and supervisory activities
- Performs all other assigned duties
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Accounting
- Five to Ten years in Accounting experience to include AR, AP, Payroll, Tax and Planning
- Experience supervising a team of accounting professionals
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a strongly team-oriented environment
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and major accounting software packages
- Problem solving & analytical ability
- Proven ability to prioritize objectives and delegate duties
- Work independently taking ownership of work produced
