Job Summary
The Facilities Management Office is responsible for all facility construction and maintenance for the Minnesota Army National Guard. Our business processes and accounting methods are held to a higher standard due to the various available funding resources (both State and Federal dollars), and subject at all times to State and Federal audit. This position is the Accounts Payable Account Clerk Senior for both Federal and State accounts.
This position exists to provide the Department of Military Affairs with accounting and administrative services necessary for accounts payable transactions, which include state and federal appropriated funds. Ensures regulatory and procedural compliance with the Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA), and other federal, state, and local regulations. Provide recommendations to supervisor on department business practices to accommodate new reporting needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of a specialized program area sufficient to serve as technical expert and train and direct the work of others
- Knowledge of laws and regulations governing a specialized program area sufficient to develop procedures and program guidelines
- Knowledge of principles and practices of office management sufficient to plan, assign and review the work of other staff.
- Experience with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Mathematics skills sufficient to reconcile data and balance accounts.
- Customer Service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written correspondence.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of English sufficient to fluently speak, read, understand, and respond to a variety of written and spoken communications.
- Ability to work independently while knowing when management consultation is needed.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to maintain a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree or higher in Business, Accounting or an Accounting related field.
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience working with the Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) system.
