Boys & Girls Clubs has served youth in Southwest Michigan since 1998. The Club provides after school and summer programs promoting academic and career development, character and leadership skills, and healthy lifestyles for nearly 1,500 youth and teens each year at two Benton Harbor legacy sites: the Fettig Youth Campus and Joel E. ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Academic & Workforce Success Coach’s core responsibilities include leading the Joel E. Smilow Teen Center’s academic and workforce program including planning and daily coordination of programming using the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Academic & Workforce curriculum and other related programs. The Success Coach is also responsible for Supervision of all academic and workforce staff and volunteers that support Project Learn, Career Launch, Diplomas to Degree, Money Matters and all college, post-secondary and workforce programming at the Joel E. Smilow Teen Center location.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and facilitate academic and career exploration and workforce activities for members 9th – 12th grades in accordance with but not limited to Project Learn, Career Launch, Diploma to Degree, Money Matters and other applicable programs.
2. Plan, implement, and facilitate daily activities using Boys & Girls Clubs of America Academic Success, Career Exploration and Workforce curriculum.
3. Ensure daily programming is well organized and meets Boys & Girls Clubs of America requirements for an Optimal Club Experience.
4. Responsible for working with all Joel E. Smilow Teen members in creating a post high school plan (postsecondary and or workforce), annually updated in order to help ensure Teen members not only graduate from high school prepared for postsecondary education and/or employment as well as educate youth of the high demand career pathways including providing opportunities to explore career options and develop interest.
5. Responsible for working with members directly and or identify supports to help with remediation and/or tutoring required for students to improve their basic education skills and ensure students graduate.
6. Responsible for developing post secondary partnerships with local community colleges, four year universities and other local post secondary credential programs.
7. Responsible for developing workforce partnerships with area businesses and skilled trade professionals including but not limited to career observations to develop interests, resume workshops, mock interviewing, workforce employment and mentoring opportunities, and summer internships to establish and increase the Club’s focus on workforce readiness programming.
8. Responsible for adding and expanding work-based learning and skills opportunities for Joel E. Smilow teen members.
9. Responsible for completing workforce quarterly reports.
10. Required to participate in BGCA-led training/professional development related to workforce readiness
11. Responsible for sharing academic and workforce opportunities and best practices with school sites as appropriate.
12. Establish performance objectives with Area and Unit Director and supervise volunteers and Jr. Staff specific to the Workforce and Academic Success area.
13. Responsible for managing member conduct on a daily basis and making recommendations to the Sr. Program Coordinator or Unit Director regarding disciplinary action(s) as and when needed.
14. Provide positive, visible, and continuous supervision of Club members during operating hours.
15. Work directly in collaboration with volunteers and other community partners to maximize resources and impact club members Optimal Club Experience.
16. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience required.
2. Ability to supervise, train and motivate staff & volunteers.
3. Ability to coordinate, implement and evaluate quality programs for youth.
4. Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior issues as they arise.
5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
6. Ability to work effectively with community partners and other community organizations
7. Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
8. Candidate should possess a strong motivation for helping children and teens and a preference for working in a mission-driven organization.

10. Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy, and Code of Confidentiality.
11. Satisfactory criminal background check.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,220.00 - $45,219.00 per year
