As a member with Douglas County Partners for Student Success you will directly serve youth who are exploring and immersed in authentic student-led experiences designed to engage them in personalized plans for their future careers and education. The engaging elements of authentic, experiential education will be one of the core elements of the programming led by student voice and choice. The AmeriCorps member will be responsible for 1. serving alongside Partner staff and volunteers to develop and deliver learning opportunities including guidance for career and post-high school education planning 2. mentoring and coaching youth across the county who have been exposed to authentic experiential learning in our local schools and community-based education sites and needing further support and follow-up to pursue career options and web-based post-high school education plans; 3. becoming familiar with services and resources available to youth to pursue post-high school education; 4. recruiting, serving with and coaching community volunteers willing to be industry mentors and post-high school education navigators United Communities AmeriCorps (UCA) partners with local organizations to host members in meaningful service projects to meet critical needs in SW Oregon. UCA projects improve access to community programs in project focus areas of Education, Economic Opportunity and Healthy Futures. Members engage clients in their dedicated service project, and then use their experience to recruit, retain, and support community volunteers. Members serve full-time for 11 months, totaling 1,700 hours for the term of service. Our positions have benefits (education award, monthly stipend, training opportunities, etc).
