Soliant is seeking a dedicated and passionate Contracted Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2023/2024 school year in Detroit, Michigan. As a Contracted Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing quality education and support to students with special needs, ensuring their academic success and personal development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, based on their specific learning goals and requirements.
  • Adapt instructional materials, strategies, and techniques to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, growth, and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Utilize appropriate assessment tools and strategies to monitor student progress and make data-driven instructional decisions.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in various academic subjects, as well as social and life skills.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience.
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in special education to continually enhance instructional practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification or license in Special Education.
  • Previous experience working with students with special needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Organizational skills to manage paperwork, IEP development, and data tracking.
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Contract Details: This is a contracted position for the 2023/2024 school year, with the possibility of extension. The salary and benefits package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
